The top five healing superfoods, and why you should eat them every day

by PF Louis
(NaturalNews) You may think that eating five superfoods every day is out of reach, not very do-able. There are quite a few superfoods available, and many articles list up to ten to consume. Some of those superfoods, however, may not be practical every-day consumable items.
Hopefully, this article will suggest five that you can consume or nibble each and every day without going out of your way. The one way in which you must go out of your way is ensuring the common food items listed are organic.
Why choose organic superfoods?
Besides the obvious reasons for choosing organic, here’s another reason not so well known: fresh fruit and vegetable crops not chemically treated contain compounds called sylvestrols that protect them from fungal attacks. This compound is also able to match with enzymes that are unique only to cancer cells, dubbed CYP 1B1 by British professor Dan Burke. When crops are sprayed or treated from the soil with fungicides, the crop’s sylvestrols become weaker because they’re not needed for fighting fungal infections. The externally applied fungicides are doing that for them.
But organic fruits and vegetables still contain these sylvestrols, and they’re attracted only to the CYP 1B1 in cancer cells, killing them. Everyone has a few cancer cells floating around. The idea is to control them and keep them from overwhelming tissue or organ healthy cells. This is why a strong aspect of any ti-ancancer diet recommends organic fruits and vegetables. [1]

Five superfoods to consume daily
Apples: The old adage “an apple a day keeps the doctor away” has real merit. According to GreenMedInfo.com founder Sayer Ji, “This commonly overlooked superfood protects the body from nuclear fallout, kills a wide range of cancers, and keeps the arteries unclogged — to name but a few, experimentally confirmed ways in which the apple awakens your inner physician.” [2]
That’s a lot more health value than most normally expect from an apple. Contrary to some leaking disinformation, the seeds are also cancer cell killers. The seeds’ amygdalin, a compound that includes cyanide, is unlocked only by a particular enzyme in cancer cells. (http://www.naturalnews.com/035554_laetrile_cancer_cure_cyanide.html)
That’s also how apricot seed kernels and laetrile, proven cancer cure therapies, work against cancer. The amygdalin compound is opened by an enzyme only in cancer cells, releasing its cynadie into those cells only.
Chlorella and chlorella growth factor: Chlorella is a superfood, not just a supplement. Because of it’s high protein content, it was considered for farming as a solution to food shortages shortly after WW II.
It can be easily consumed daily as small tablets or a tablespoon of powder mixed in smoothies or strong lemon/lime water. In addition to containing high amounts of protein, the significant chlorophyll content provides cellular energy and detoxification. Around 2500 to 5000 milligrams daily is a good baseline dosage.
Chlorella growth factor is part of all chlorella, but it can be isolated, condensed, and purchased separately in small green tablets. It’s been recently discovered that chlorella growth factor rebuilds damaged tissue.
Overall, chlorella helps digestion, supports liver function, stabilizes blood pressure, and is a prebiotic that nourishes probiotic growth.
Berries: Goji berries, Acai berries, blueberries, strawberries, and all other types of berries are easy snack foods that are high in phytonutrients and antioxidants. There’s no reason why a few can’t be nibbled every day. [3]
Cacao: Cacao or cocoa nibs can be ground. Mixing a couple of teaspoons full into coffee, almond milk, yogurt, or smoothies will give you much more antioxidant power than even berries. The ORAC (oxygen radical absorption capacity) of cacao is considerably higher than even goji berries on all ORAC charts. [4}
Cacao and even dark unsweetened or semi-sweet chocolate that's at least 70 percent cacao (or cocoa) supports cardiovascular health to help prevent heart attacks. It's definitely easy to have a little cacao or dark chocolate every day. (http://www.naturalnews.com)
Coconut oil: You can cook with it, mix in smoothies, cereals, or take a teaspoonful daily. It should be cold pressed virgin coconut oil. [5]
Coconut oil should be stored in a dark space. If the temperature is just a little cool, it remains solid or semi-solid up to 75 degrees F or 24 degrees C. Above that it turns to liquid. It turns into too much of a brick in the fridge, but remains stable cooking at heats up to around 485 F or 252 C.
Memory problems? Coconut oil’s medium length triglycerides are easily metabolized into ketones that provide energy to brain cells. It has even been used successfully for reversing Alzheimer’s disease. (http://www.naturalnews.com/030373_coconut_oil_Alzheimers_disease.html)
Extra bonus item: Fish oil, hemp seeds, chia seeds, and flax seeds (ground just before eating). One animal based omega-3 oil and one plant based omega-3 seed combined will give you the omega-3 fatty acids our bodies need but often lack. [5]

Nine Foods You should Never eat again...

by Jonathan Benson, staff writer
(NaturalNews) With so much misinformation out there about food and how it affects human health, making healthy food choices for you and your family can be difficult and confusing. There are a number of specific foods; however, that you will want to avoid in almost every circumstance because they provide virtually no health benefits while posing plenty of health risks. Here are nine foods you should never eat again if you care about preserving your long-term health:

1) White bread, refined flours. By definition, white bread and refined flours in general are toxic for your body because they have been stripped of virtually all vitamins, minerals, fiber, and other important nutrients. Because of this, the body does not know how to properly digest and assimilate these so-called foods, which can lead to health problems. Refined white flour has also been bleached with chlorine and brominated with bromide, two poisonous chemicals that have been linked to causing thyroid and organ damage. (http://drlwilson.com/ARTICLES/BREAD.htm)

2) Conventional frozen meals. Most conventionally-prepared frozen meals are loaded with preservatives, processed salt, hydrogenated oils and other artificial ingredients, not to mention the fact that most frozen meals have been heavily pre-cooked, rendering their nutrient content minimal at best (especially after getting microwaved again at home). With the exception of a few truly healthy frozen meal brands such as Amy’s and Organic Bistro, most frozen meals are little more than disease in a box, so avoid them in favor of fresh foods. 3) White rice. Like white bread, white rice has been stripped of most of its nutrients, and separated from the bran and germ, two natural components that make up rice in its brown form. Even so-called “fortified” white rice is nutritionally deficient, as the body still processes this refined food much differently than brown rice, which is absorbed more slowly and does not cause the same spike in blood sugar that white rice does. 4) Microwaveable popcorn. This processed food is a favorite among moviegoers and regular snackers alike, but it is one of the unhealthiest foods you can eat. Practically every component of microwaveable popcorn, from the genetically-modified (GM) corn kernels to the processed salt and preservative chemicals used to enhance its flavor, is unhealthy and disease-promoting. On top of this, microwaveable popcorn contains a chemical known as diacetyl that can actually destroy your lungs. If you love popcorn, stick with organic kernels that you can pop yourself in a kettle and douse with healthy ingredients like coconut oil, grass-fed butter, and Himalayan pink salt. 5) Cured meat products with nitrates, nitrites. Deli meats, summer sausage, hot dogs, bacon, and many other meats sold at the grocery store are often loaded with sodium nitrite and other chemical preservatives that have been linked to causing heart disease and cancer. If you eat meat, stick with uncured, nitrite and nitrate-free varieties, and preferably those that come from organic, grass-fed animals.

6) Most conventional protein, energy bars. By the way they are often marketed, it might seem as though protein and energy bars are a strong addition to a healthy diet. But more often than not, these meal replacements contain processed soy protein, refined sugar, hydrogenated fat, and other harmful additives that contribute to chronic illness. Not all protein and energy bars are bad, of course — Thunderbird Energetica, Organic Food Bar, Boku Superfood, Vega Sport, PROBAR, and Zing all make healthy protein and energy bars. Just be sure to read the ingredient labels and know what you are buying.

7) Margarine. Hidden in all sorts of processed foods, margarine, a hydrogenated trans-fat oil, is something you will want to avoid at all costs for your health. Contrary to popular belief, butter and saturated fats in general are not unhealthy, especially when they are derived from pastured animals that feed on grass rather than corn and soy. And if animal-based fats are not for you, stick with extra-virgin coconut oil or olive oil rather than margarine. (http://www.naturalnews.com/027865_saturated_fat_health.html)

8) Soy milk and soy-based meat substitutes. One of the biggest health frauds of modern times, the soy craze is a fad that you will want to skip. Besides the fact that nearly all non-organic soy ingredients are of GM origin, most soy additives are processed using a toxic chemical known as hexane, which is linked to causing birth defects, reproductive problems, and cancer. Soy that has not been fermented is also highly estrogenic, which can throw your natural hormone balance out of whack. (http://www.naturalnews.com/026303_soy_protein_hexane.html)

9) “Diet” anything. Many so-called “diet” products on the market today contains artificial sweeteners like aspartame (Equal) and sucralose (Splenda), both of which are linked to causing neurological damage, gastrointestinal problems, and endocrine disruption. Many diet products also contain added chemical flavoring agents to take the place of fat and other natural components that have been removed to artificially reduce calorie content. Instead, stick with whole foods that are as close to nature as possible, including high-fat foods grown the way nature intended, and your body will respond surprisingly well. People who eat processed junk food are angry, irritable, say scientists

http://www.naturalnews.com/039655_processed_food_irritability_research.html

Wednesday, March 27, 2013 by: Ethan A. Huff, staff writer

(NaturalNews) The things you eat have a direct effect on your state of mind, and even have the power to drastically alter your behavioral patterns. These are the findings of a new study out of Oxford University in the U.K., which revealed that processed junk food consumption can lead to aggression, irritability, and even violent tendencies.

According to Dr. Drew Ramsey, who led the study, nutrient deficiency is a major cause of behavioral abnormalities. Without the proper nutrients, he says, the body cannot produce the appropriate chemicals and hormones required for clear thinking and healthy mood, which in turn can lead to irrational and even dangerous behaviors.

To back up these claims, Dr. Ramsey decided to study how diet affects mood and behavior in a group of prison inmates. According to CBS Boston, Dr. Ramsey gave certain vitamin supplements to some of the prison inmates, and compared their behaviors and thinking patterns to those of prison inmates eating typical junk foods.

Upon analysis, it was determined that those inmates who took the vitamin supplements were far less aggressive and angry than those eating primarily processed junk food. According to Dr. Ramsey, the findings indicate that nutrient deficiency, which is becoming increasingly common in the modern world, is directly correlated with erratic and violent behavior.

"Deficiencies in nutrients, magnesium or manganese, vitamin C, or some B vitamins may make a person hyperactive towards a stressor, a short fuse so to speak," says Nicolette Pace, a nutritionist, concerning excess consumption of empty carbohydrate junk food. "[Carbohydrates] don't give your body what you need to cope with day-to-day stresses."

Several locals interviewed as part of a CBS Boston report on the study agree, having told the news station that specific foods identifiably alter their moods and thoughts. One woman explained that her diet noticeably affects her moods, with junk foods bringing out the worst in her thoughts and perceptions of the world around her.

A similar study recently put out by researchers at Penn State came to similar conclusions, having found that individuals already prone to moodiness are even more likely to be in a bad state of mind if they eat junk food. According to that study, negative moods are amplified considerably following junk food consumption.

"Cutting back on high-sugar foods such as chocolate, sweets and sugary drinks can help prevent the mood swings," says Amanda Ursell, a nutritionist, as quoted by The Sun back in 2009. "Replace them with foods that have a low glycemic index (GI). These foods are digested slowly, preventing big changes in blood sugar levels that accompany high-sugar food."
